Intea inaugurates prison and police facility
Intea has during the week inaugurated its two latest completed projects: the Viskan prison in Ånge and the new police facility in Kristianstad.
The Viskan prison, leased by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service until 2045, accommodates 144 places and has undergone extensive renovation and reconstruction. The Prison and Probation Service took over the facility, which has a lettable area of approximately 14,300 sqm, on January 15th this year.
“The renovation and reconstruction of the Viskan prison has been a successful project. We now have a modern facility that will contribute to both secure and efficient correctional services,” says Maria Strand, head of the Viskan prison.
“We have successfully completed the renovation and reconstruction of the Viskan prison in close collaboration with the Prison and Probation Service. It has been an extensive and partly challenging project where the many involved have contributed to completing the project on time. With more prison places and the creation of new jobs, we contribute to both security and local development,” says Jerker Häggström, CEO of Intea Östersund.
The new police facility in Kristianstad was also inaugurated during the week. The police facility, with a lettable area of 19,500 sqm, is environmentally certified according to Breeam Excellent and has been designed with a focus on security, sustainability, and beautiful architecture. Together with the detention center, it forms a new modern justice center with nearly 36,000 sqm of lettable area. The premises were taken over by the Police Authority on December 16, 2024, and the lease agreement runs for 15 years.
“It feels fantastic to, after almost eight years of work from start to finish, be part of inaugurating this building that will provide the Police Authority in Kristianstad with the best conditions to conduct their important work. We have placed great emphasis on creating both a beautiful and secure work environment that meets future requirements,” says Björn Wemmenborn, CEO of Intea Skåne.
