<div class="abstract">NCC and the City of Turku have signed an agreement for the construction of a new school and kindergarten in the district of Järkälä in Turku, Finland. The order value is approximately SEK 195 million.</div><img src="https://mb.cision.com/Public/197/4093263/9fde6bcc3c9ff629_800x800ar.jpg" alt="">The project is being carried out in two phases and the parties have worked on development and project planning since last autumn. Construction is now ready to commence. The assignment includes the construction of a school building of approximately 4,700 square meters to accommodate approximately 260 school students and 170 preschool children. "By dividing the project into two phases with a thorough development and planning phase before we commence construction, we can ensure that the result will match the desired outcome for all parties. For example, we have worked with school staff to ensure we have a school that is fit-for-purpose," says Esa Lehmusvuori, Regional Manager NCC Building Nordics. The school is being built in accordance with the Finnish environmental classification YL (Ympäristöluokitus), which aims to ensure that the building has low water and energy consumption. Rooftop solar panels will be installed to achieve low operating costs. The school will also have its own emergency power system in the event of a crisis. "The project has required strong cooperation between the contractor, the client and the designers. The involvement of future users in the design has also played an important role in ensuring that high-quality plans were implemented during the tight development phase. Without effective cooperation with good partners and users, this would not have been possible", says Marko Koskinen, Construction Engineer at the City of Turku.Construction will commence immediately and is expected to be completed at the beginning of the 2026 autumn term.The order is valued at approximately SEK 195 million and will be registered in the first quarter of 2025 in the NCC Building Nordics business area. <div></div>
