NEXT Biometrics, NEXT, a global leader in advanced Active Thermal® fingerprint
sensor technology, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a new
Partner in India. Together the parties will collaborate on a biometric module,
specialized in liveness detection, and target continued growth on the dynamic
Aadhaar L1 and MOSIP markets as well as within different national ID programs.
The MoU also includes a commitment by NEXT's Indian Partner to place orders
amounting to at least 30 MNOK over a period of 24 months.
Following several significant milestones during 2024, NEXT continues to
strengthen and develop its biometric offering. Together with a new Partner in
India, NEXT has now agreed to collaborate on advancing a biometric module with a
slim form factor, which will be offered with liveness detection functionality.
The new Partner is well established and active across multiple continents with
its solutions for business areas such as identification, automation and
tracking.
Under the agreement, the Indian Partner will leverage NEXT's expertise in
fingerprint technology and product integrations to advance the implementation of
the biometric module. The integrations are targeted to be completed in Q1 2025,
and the first volume orders from the Partner are expected during H2 2025.
Digvijay Singh Kanwar, Senior Vice President and Head of Sales India, US, EU,
and Africa, at NEXT commented:
"We are proud to announce both a new Partner and an additional product launch.
Our new Partner is already a well-established top supplier of Aadhaar certified
biometric products in India and a great match for NEXT. By signing this MoU, we
continue to strengthen our position on several of the world's largest and most
demanding biometric ID markets."
During Q1 2025, NEXT will advance and adapt the hardware and software for the
module which will be tailored-made for the Indian Partner. The module will be
marketed and sold to customers that are targeting markets that include India,
Asia, South America and Africa. The biometric module will have a slim form
factor and be customized to provide superior liveness detection with a focus on
government ID markets and end-customers.
Mr. Kanwar concluded:
"Compared to competing sensor technologies, NEXT's Active Thermal® sensors are
simply much better at detecting liveness in a finger. This makes it harder for
fake fingers or spoofing attempts to bypass our systems, a crucial feature in
the top-tier security segments such as national ID systems. NEXT always provides
its partners a comprehensive biometric security experience, easily integrated
and also available for multiple platforms. I very much look forward to
demonstrating our expertise and develop this module together with our new
Partner."
