[Joinville, Brazil and Stockholm, Sweden 30 October 2024] – Tupy, a global leader in the development and production of cast iron structural components and capital goods, has ordered a capacity expansion for Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI) production in Mexico. The expansion of the existing SinterCast process control system is required to support increased demand for CGI from the heavy duty commercial vehicle sectors in Europe and North America.
“Tupy continuously invests in innovation and technology and this impacts all regions where we are present. In Mexico, as an example, we are expanding the throughput of our SinterCast process control system to support the increasing demand for Compacted Graphite Iron commercial vehicle components” said Fernando Cestari de Rizzo, CEO of Tupy. With seven SinterCast process control systems on seven production lines located in three countries, and more than 20 years of CGI series production experience, Tupy has established itself as the leading provider of CGI components – and knowhow – worldwide. CGI is the fastest growing material in the cast iron foundry industry and we look forward to meeting the demands of our OEM customers together with SinterCast.”
“The capacity increase is business as usual for Tupy and SinterCast. Since our first installation at the Tupy Joinville facility in Brazil in the year 2000, we have regularly brought new production lines on stream and implemented capacity expansions” said Dr Steve Dawson, President & CEO of SinterCast. “With the onset of the production ramp in early-2025, the CGI capacity expansion reinforces our track record of double-digit growth and adds momentum to our robust outlook for installation revenue in 2024. From July through October, our total order intake for new installation revenue has amounted to more than SEK 9 million, exceeding our historical full-year average”.
