WALLENSTAM: Construction start of 177 apartments in Kallebäcks Terrasser
Today Johannes Hulter, Chairman of the City Planning Committee in the City of Gothenburg together with Hans Wallenstam, CEO of Wallenstam, held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Stråket block in Kallebäcks Terrasser. With a central location in the area along Kallebäcks Torggata and next to Lackarebäck hill, the construction is now starting of 177 apartments, ranging in size from studio to 3 bedroom units with expected occupation in 2027.
"Gothenburg needs more rental apartments for families, young people, the elderly, everyone. We know that Gothenburgers want to live in pleasant urban spaces, with services and entertainment close to home. Here, Wallenstam manages to achieve both of these things - new rental apartments and lively streets," says Johannes Hulter, Chairman of the City Planning Committee in the City of Gothenburg.
"It feels really fantastic to start another project here in Kallebäcks Terrasser. Six years' ago, we held the groundbreaking ceremony for the whole area. The site that once belonged to the old Arla factory has now been transformed into a modern and welcoming area with soon almost 2,000 apartments, a school, preschool, offices, restaurants and cafés. The pulse of the city and the tranquillity of nature meet here in the best possible way," says Hans Wallenstam, CEO of Wallenstam.
In two years, the residents of the Stråket block will move into new, modern apartments with light Nordic colors and materials. The large courtyard will be a wonderful place with a playground, grill, greenery and space for bicycles.
To date, six blocks have welcomed new tenants to Kallebäcks Terrasser, and in the seventh block Torget, which boasts the tallest building in the area, occupation is now underway in the first phase. All apartments are allocated via Wallenstam's cost-free housing queue.
The architect for the Stråket block is Noi Arkitekter and the construction work will be carried out by PEAB Sverige. The construction of the whole Kallebäcks Terrasser district commenced in 2019, and when fully developed the area will include almost 2,000 new homes, a school, preschool, offices, restaurants, cafés and local services.
