YIT Oyj: YIT to launch the first phase of apartment building project in Kladno, Czech Republic

YIT has agreed with the Czech housing cooperative BD Portti Kladno on the sale of the first phase of the apartment building project, and the construction of the apartment buildings that belong to it. In the first phase, which is now starting, YIT will build 85 communal housing apartments, which the housing cooperative will sell to its members. The value of the first phase of the contract is approximately EUR 18 million and it will be recorded in the order book for the first quarter of the year 2025. 

With the agreement, YIT's first housing project will be launched in the city of Kladno in the Czech Republic. Kladno is less than half an hour's drive from the centre of Prague. The Portti Kladno project comprises almost 200 apartments, which will be built in two construction phases. The overall scope of the project is approximately 10,700 square metres and it will comprise four separate apartment buildings. In the second phase, YIT will build apartments for sale on the free market, for which pre-marketing has just been launched. 

YIT is developing a former industrial area into a cosy new residential area with plenty of green areas nearby. The project will make extensive use of modern prefabrication technology.

The city of Kladno offers good train connections to Prague, and a new express train line that is under planning will improve the transport connections even further. In the coming years, a larger development with 800 apartments is planned for Kladno," said Tom Sandvik, Head of Division CEE and Baltics at YIT.
