Midsona AB: Midsona has been awarded two prestigious sustainability awards
Midsona has been recognized for its climate strategy and leadership by the global non-profit environmental initiative CDP. By achieving the highest grade A for 2023, Midsona is now ranked as one of the top 400 listed companies in the world, out of a total of approximately 21,000 participating companies. Recently, Midsona was also named the most sustainable listed company in the grocery category in the annual Sustainable Companies 2023 ranking.
This year, over 21,000 companies representing over 60 per cent of global market capitalisation responded to CDP's annual climate disclosure. Grade A means that Midsona is one of the top 400 (1.9 per cent) companies globally in terms of climate change strategy and leadership. CDP's annual process is widely regarded as the benchmark for corporate environmental transparency as it measures actions and performance to mitigate climate-related risks and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
"We are very proud of CDP's recognition of our performance and that we reach the absolute top of their ranking by going from the previous grade of A- to achieving A. This is a motivator in our climate work to do what we can on a broad front to reduce our climate impact and reach net zero in 2045", says Peter Åsberg, CEO and President of Midsona.
CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) is an international non-profit organisation that helps companies make their environmental impact visible. CDP scores are set to increase corporate transparency and to guide, incentivize and evaluate environmental action. The full set of publicly available scores can be found here: CDP website (https://www.cdp.net/en/companies/companies-scores#446647786929955804cc9a3a08ef1eb4).
In the annual Sustainable Companies 2023 ranking, it was recently announced that Midsona has been named the most sustainable company on the stock exchange in the grocery category for the second year in a row. Midsona also came in second place overall among all categories in the annual ranking. Lunds university, Dagens industri, and Aktuell Hållbarhet have ranked a total of 130 Swedish listed companies based on their sustainability work, with a focus on risk and governance. This year, the ranking has specifically considered CSRD/ESRS, EU's taxonomy, and biodiversity.
