Veidekke has been commissioned to build 244 apartments and non-domestic premises
in Råsunda near Stockholm for the city of Solna's public housing foundation.
Work on the project, a design-and-build contract with a contract value of SEK
609.5 million, starts in February 2025.
The Bollen block in Råsunda is under development under the auspices of
Signalisten, the city of Solna's public housing foundation. Veidekke has now
been commissioned to build a residential block that will comprise 244 rental
apartments, of which six residences adapted to special needs, as well as
premises for a new health center.
"We look forward to working with Veidekke to develop the Bollen block into an
attractive and sustainable section of Solna. This project signals the start of
an expansion phase and a high pace in residential construction," says Lars
Jolérus, CEO of Signalisten.
The project is being implemented as a design-and-build contract, with groundwork
and demolition starting in spring 2025, in parallel with the design phase. Four
new buildings will replace current, lower buildings, while a five-story building
will be preserved. The health center, which has been temporarily relocated, will
move into new premises in one of the buildings. Varying in size from one to five
rooms plus kitchen, the apartments are designed to appeal to a wide range of
target groups.
Plans include a large garage and two new shelters below ground, as well as a
waste disposal facility. The energy supply will incorporate solar panels. The
new buildings will be certified in line with the Miljöbyggnad Silver
environmental standard, which e.g. stipulates low energy consumption.
"We are looking forward to building more rental apartments in a "new" Råsunda
neighborhood. Following years of slow markets, we are excited to be able to
start construction of a large, high-quality rental project," says Linus Wåhlin
at Veidekke Construction Sweden.
The Bollen block is a complex project, presenting such challenges as high
groundwater levels and a metro network under parts of the construction site, in
a busy location, where residents, working businesses and traffic must be taken
into account. The project is scheduled for completion in spring 2029.
The contract is included in the Q1 2025 order book.
