SaaS HCA update October 2024: First announcements of Q3 2024 reports – more to come in November
Today, our October SaaS newsletter has been sent out. The median ARR multiple developed positively in the US/global SaaS sector, now at 6.9x ARR (from 6.1x ARR in September) according to The SaaS Capital Index, yet the median ARR multiple for the Danish SaaS sector remained at 3.1x ARR, similar to the level in September.
In October, the first Danish SaaS Q3 reports came out from Agillic and OrderYOYO. Additionally, there has been other news in October, including an acquisition from MapsPeople and a guidance upgrade from Dataproces.
Globally, the hyperscalers (Amazon AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure) have reported their results. In Q3, we saw some acceleration as Google Cloud grew to 35% YoY (from 29% in the prior quarter), and Microsoft Azure and other cloud services grew 33% YoY (from 29% in the prior quarter). Amazon grew its AWS business by 19% YoY in the quarter (19% YoY in the prior quarter).
Looking into November, most of the listed Danish SaaS companies and global SaaS companies will report their results. Besides the Q3 results, one of the key messages to follow is the current sentiment and outlook addressed by the management, as Q4 is often the best quarter for enterprise SaaS sales and has high importance for whether companies can achieve their full-year guidance. As mentioned in earlier newsletters, there has been a cautious buying behavior in earlier quarters with a weak development in net new ARR.
